This quote of Calvin Coolidge is thought provoking. It reminded me of Jesus parable at Luke 18:1-8. Jesus was emphasizing the need to be persistent in regard to Prayer and the need to never give up in praying. So yes persistence in accord with God's will is a quality we must have. The parable Jesus next told was one that emphasized humility, so disciples of Jesus would be on guard against feeling self assured in their faith and trusting in themselves that they are righteous.
Luke 18:9-14.

So I agree persistence is needed but along with it humility. It must be recognised that humans cannot solve the problems on earth no matter how persistent they may be. (Have conditions on earth changed for the better since Calvin Coolidge uttered these words?) It is God's will that by means of His Heavenly Kingdom in the hands of His son, Jesus Christ that earth's problems will be solved. Do we trust in that Kingdom to do what God has promised? Matt 6:9,10; Rev 21:3,4; 2Peter 3:13.
It is time for all mankind to submit to God's Kingdom, obeying the King Christ Jesus. Soon these human governments will be wiped out and only God's Kingdom will stand. Rev 19:11-19; compare: Daniel 2:44. John 13:34,35; Matt 22:36-40.

Exactly, Jesus is the Christ. Also I agree with Coolidge. Many have huge potential but either don't care or don't believe it. Persistence goes such a long way.
