(Matthew 15:8-11.)
8 This people draweth nigh unto me with their mouth, and honoureth me with their lips; but their heart is far from me.
9 But in vain they do worship me, teaching for doctrines the commandments of men.
10 ¶ And he called the multitude, and said unto them, Hear, and understand:
11 Not that which goeth into the mouth defileth a man; but that which cometh out of the mouth, this defileth a man.

(Matthew 16:24-26.)
24 ¶ Then said Jesus unto his disciples, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me.
25 For whosoever will save his life shall lose it: and whosoever will lose his life for my sake shall find it.
26 For what is a man profited, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul? or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul?

(Matthew 18:19-20.)

19 Again I say unto you, That if two of you shall agree on earth as touching any thing that they shall ask, it shall be done for them of my Father which is in heaven.
20 For where two or three are gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst of them.

(Matthew 19:14.)
14 But Jesus said, Suffer little children, and forbid them not, to come unto me: for of such is the kingdom of heaven.

(Matthew 19:26.)
26 But Jesus beheld them, and said unto them, With men this is impossible; but with God all things are possible.

(Matthew 21:22.)
22 And all things, whatsoever ye shall ask in prayer, believing, ye shall receive.

A new Year. I'm glad I made it through 2008. Matthew 18:20, 19:26, 21:22, all have significance to me.

Jesus was speaking to the religious leaders of his day when he uttered the words of Matt 15:8-11. They were failing to teach the people the truth from God's word, instead they were insisting the people observe man's traditions, making word of God invalid. What a dangerous position they placed themselves in! Let us always apply what Jesus says in our lives, even when it is unpopular or very difficult.

I am giving special attention to reading my Bible from the beginning, this year.
