Sandy sent over via e-mail a few pics and suggested we post something here for the 4th.
Good Idea.

We know dad would never have let this day pass without posting some patriotic quote or picture.
He was clear on his thoughts regarding this country.

So, today, the words and thought posted are right out of his calendar book.

sometimes it's good to be silly.

Last year for the 4th, Mom and Dad were in Utah.
it was a fun day.
Robyn was here
Sandy and Greg came over
the kids swam
a few friends stopped by.
we ate
Gramps helped cook
Grandma helped clean up
and we lit fireworks in the street.
It was a fun, relaxing time.

I was driving down the road yesterday and saw one of those three ribbon thingys people tie to their car antennas. Made me think of that one year, Papa homemade his own with fabric and tied it onto my semi-operating retractable one on my car. Didn't even ask if I wanted one. :)

I also love that picture of Grandma, Sheila and Sandy. If I remember correctly, Robyn wanted to get just the right shot and grandma ended up burning a small hole in her dress with the sparkler.

Thanks for the post.
That calendar book is full of thoughts and feelings that our dad wanted us to know. He wanted us to know how he felt about things.

and yes, Jen, that sparkler did burn a hole in her dress.
